The collaborative efforts of the U.S. Xylem Corporation and China Women‘s Development Foundation (CWDF) saw the Watermark Charity Project being completed at the Mengnuo Township Central Primary School of Longling County, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, on October 17, 2013.

In 2009, the U.S. Xylem Corporation brought its Watermark charity project to China through a collaborative effort with the CWDF. The Watermark project provides needy families and children across the world with access to safe drinking water via Xylem's technological and financial assistance.

Owing to geographical conditions, water facilities and health facilities in the Mengnuo Township Central Primary School were inadequate. The project installed new restrooms and water pipelines so that the teachers and students there could enjoy better sanitation and clean drinking water. In addition, volunteers from Xylem launched environmental protection and health education classes for the students, helping them to cultivate good hygiene habits.

In China, the project has benefited around 40,000 students and teachers from 50 middle schools in the Hebei, Yunnan and Jiangsu provinces. With its help, beneficiaries from these schools now have access to safe drinking water, hygienic toilets and other facilities.

Director of Water Cellar for Mothers Project of CWDF Feng Xinghui, Vice President of Xylem (China) Lv Shuping and officials from Longling County Government attended the opening ceremony at the school and gave speeches.
