Movie star and director Jackie Chan became the Love Ambassador for the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) Water Cellar for Mothers Project on Sunday when his latest hit was chosen as the charity project's theme song.

Chan sang the song on Saturday in Beijing at a televised social welfare gala to drum up drought relief efforts in southwestern China.

The song's lyricist Wang Pingjiu and actress Lin Peng were also appointed CWDF Project Promotional Ambassadors. Other songs Wang has written for Jackie Chan also express common concerns about social issues and call on society to help victims of natural disasters.

The Water Cellar for Mothers Project has benefited 1.6 million people in China's west over the past 10 years. The water supply systems it provides in Zhenfeng County, Guizhou Province have also been instrumental in guaranteeing the water supply of 1,242 households in three villages since serious drought hit the province this year.
